Diversity Day Children’s Festival Returns to Lake Topanemus September 30

The second annual Diversity Day Children’s Festival – an entertaining, enlightening, outdoor event for children (age 5- 10) and their families – is coming to Lake Topanemus Park in Freehold from 1:00 to 4:00 pm on Saturday, September 30, 2023.

“The Diversity Day Children’s Festival promotes children’s understanding of diversity and encourages kindness and an open-minded, accepting attitude towards others,” says Rick Aaronson of Manalapan Twp, who chairs the Western Monmouth Diversity Coalition (WMDC*), organizers of the event. It’s also a lot of fun!

The afternoon’s exciting live performances and engaging hands-on activities include dance groups and children’s choirs, authors reading from children’s books, crafts projects, teamwork and animal care experiences and cultural displays. Kids receive reusable “Be Kind” tote bags filled with diversity-themed giveaways and snacks.

“Last year more than 130 children took part in our family-friendly celebration of diverse cultures, backgrounds, and abilities,” says Aaronson “This year we hope to grow, both in numbers attending the festival and the experiences we provide.“

The event is free and open to the public. Rain cancels.
